Saanich Peninsula Knitting Club has Members in Stitches

Some keen crafters have formed a knitting club at CONNECT Saanich Peninsula and its first meet-up was a success.

While the inaugural knitting club meet-up attracted five or six people, Sarah Bragg, Leader of Culture, People and Services, is hoping it will grow.

“It’s a beautiful thing to get together and work on a sweater or an afghan,” says Sarah. “More than anything, though, is it’s an excuse to visit and connect and check in with each other.”

Deborah, who lives at CONNECT Saanich Peninsula, has been knitting since she was a child and says she’s happy to teach coaches and other people supported by CONNECT how to knit.

“It’s easy once you learn how and it’s relaxing and useful,” says Deborah.

Sarah and Deborah get together several times a week to knit, which is where the idea for the knitting club was born.
